Soda Park Loop, Peaks Trail, Flumes Loop
Soda Park Loop - Dillon/Keystone
Length - 10.8 miles
Elevation Gain - 694ft
Route Type - Loop
Description - Some of the most dreamy singletrack in the area and my personal favorite regular loop. It helps that I live a block from one of the trail entrances. Definitely ride clockwise as suggested by MTB Project. It’s just more flowy, therefore more fun! There are many ways to extend your ride. Some of my favorite extensions are: Red Trail to Blair Witch to Hay Trail, or simply add on Hippo to Horseshoe Gulch, then Groovey Uvi near the end of your ride!
Peaks Trail - Breck/Frisco
Length - 8 miles
Elevation Gain - 1,227ft
Route Type - Out and Back
Description - Personally I’m a downhill girl at heart. In my younger years I spent a lot of time at Keystone riding their downhill course. Gravity is my friend, and for this reason I feel that riding the Peaks Trail from Breck to Frisco is Intermediate, but I would consider it more advanced if riding from Frisco to Breck due to the pretty consistent elevation gain and climb. May people will also ride from Frisco to Breck, then back again. Another option is to take the paved rec path one way and the trail the other!
Flumes Loop - Breckenridge
Length - 6.5 miles
Elevation Gain - 494ft
Route Type - Loop
Description - This loop is comprised of a handful of shorter sections of trail and it will certainly put a smile on your face! Smooth, well maintained with huge sweeping berms. For a longer ride, ride it both directions, or add on Slalom, Western Sky, Prospect, Betty’s Trail, and finally French Creek Trail to Huron Road to get back to the Flumes Loop. The options are really endless!
FREE COLORADO GPS TRAIL MAP
I highly suggest downloading the totally free COTrex App prior to heading out on your ride. Select your activity: Hiking, Biking, Horseback Riding, Motorcycle, ATV, OHV, Nordic Skiing, Snowmobiling, or Snowshoeing to see what trails are open and available for each activity. This app is only a couple year old and covers all trails in Colorado. It is not yet great at rating or describing trails in our area, but it is GPS connected, so you will always know where you are and what your trail/road options are when it comes to getting back to your vehicle or accommodation. I’ve also found it useful when planning longer rides in areas unfamiliar to me.
